ColdFusion Support & Maintenance
Responsive ColdFusion support from a team of developers who have kept CF applications in production since 1998. Break-fix, patching, upgrades, performance work, and ongoing maintenance for Adobe ColdFusion and Lucee estates.
Adobe Solution Partner since 1998. Twenty-eight years of ColdFusion developers on staff, supporting production applications for Ford, NASA Kennedy Space Center, and Osceola County.
What ColdFusion Support Covers
Support and maintenance for applications that still run the business, from a one-off fix to a standing retainer with a developer who knows your codebase.
Break-fix and incident response
A page that stopped rendering, a scheduled task that quietly died, a query that started timing out after a data load. Our developers pick up the ticket, reproduce the fault, and get the application back to a known-good state. Then we fix the cause, not the symptom.
Ongoing maintenance
A monthly retainer that keeps a ColdFusion application healthy: security patches, JVM and connector updates, log review, dependency housekeeping, and the small fixes that never make it onto anyone's roadmap.
Patching and version upgrades
Adobe hotfixes, Java updates, and in-place moves from an unsupported release to a supported one. We test against your codebase first so an update that fixes one thing does not break three others.
Performance and stability
Slow requests, memory leaks, thread exhaustion, and database contention. We instrument the application, find where the time actually goes, and tune the code and the server settings that matter.
ColdFusion Versions and Estates We Support
If it runs CFML, we can support it. The list below covers what we see most often.
- Adobe ColdFusion. ColdFusion 2016 through ColdFusion 2025 under active support. Earlier releases (9, 10, 11) on a case-by-case basis, usually as the first step of an upgrade.
- Lucee. Lucee 5 and 6 estates, including mixed environments where Adobe ColdFusion and Lucee run side by side.
- Servers and hosting. Windows and Linux. IIS, Apache, and Tomcat. On-premise, colocated, and cloud-hosted on AWS or Azure.
- Databases. SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, and PostgreSQL. Stored procedures, replication, and the data access code that talks to them.
- Frameworks and legacy code. ColdBox, FW/1, Fusebox, Model-Glue, and plain CFML with no framework at all. Applications with no documentation and no original developers are the common case, not the exception.
How We Respond
The same four steps whether the ticket is a production outage or a slow report. Stabilize first, then fix it properly, then make sure it stays fixed.
Intake and triage
You tell us what is failing and how badly. A developer, not a ticket queue, reviews it and confirms what we are looking at. Production-down issues go to the front of the line.
- Confirmed scope
- Named developer on the issue
- First response with next steps
Stabilize
Get the application serving traffic again. That may mean a rollback, a configuration change, a hotfix, or a restart with the right settings. Speed matters more than elegance at this step.
- Application restored
- Interim fix documented
- Monitoring in place
Root cause
With the pressure off, we find why it happened. Logs, thread dumps, query plans, and the code path that produced the fault. The permanent fix is scoped and reviewed with you before it ships.
- Root cause write-up
- Permanent fix
- Regression test where practical
Document and hand back
Everything we learned goes into your runbook: what broke, why, how to spot it early, and what to do next time. Most clients move to a maintenance retainer at this point so the next issue is smaller.
- Updated runbook
- Recommendations
- Optional maintenance retainer
Why Teams Bring ColdFusion Support to Convective
Most firms that once did ColdFusion work have moved on. Convective has not. We have built and supported ColdFusion applications continuously since 1998, and we have been an Adobe Solution Partner for all 28 of those years. When a support ticket hits an undocumented edge case in the platform, we can call the engineers at Adobe who wrote it.
The developers on our support team are the same people who built the Ford dealer campaign platform and the NASA Kennedy Space Center inventory system on ColdFusion, and who carried Osceola County through multiple ColdFusion server upgrades without downtime. They write CFML every week. That matters when the application in front of them has no documentation, no original developers, and a business that depends on it every morning.
We also publish what we learn. CFGuide.io, launched at the ColdFusion Summit keynote, is our free reference for administrator settings, performance tuning, and security hardening. Our support runbooks draw on the same material.

- Do you still have ColdFusion developers on staff?
- Yes. Convective has written and supported ColdFusion applications continuously since 1998 and has been an Adobe Solution Partner for the same 28 years. The developers who take your support tickets write CFML every week. That is increasingly rare, and it is the reason clients with production ColdFusion estates come to us.
- Can you take over support for an application nobody on our team understands?
- Yes. That is the most common starting point. We begin with a short discovery pass to map the application: entry points, scheduled tasks, database dependencies, integrations, and the parts of the code that carry the most risk. From there we can support it, document it, and, when you are ready, modernize it.
- How quickly do you respond to a ColdFusion emergency?
- Production-down issues get a developer's attention ahead of everything else, and we are responsive during an incident until the application is stable. Specific response commitments are set in the support agreement based on the coverage you need, so you know exactly what to expect before an incident happens.
- Do you support Lucee as well as Adobe ColdFusion?
- Yes. We support Lucee 5 and 6 alongside Adobe ColdFusion 2016 through 2025, including mixed estates. Older Adobe releases (9, 10, 11) are supported on a case-by-case basis, most often as the first step of an upgrade to a supported version.
- Do we need a maintenance retainer, or can you fix one problem?
- Either. Many engagements start with a single break-fix ticket. Clients who want patching, upgrades, and monitoring handled on an ongoing basis move to a monthly maintenance retainer, which also gives them a developer who already knows the codebase when the next issue arrives.
- Can you add AI capabilities to a ColdFusion application you support?
- Yes. Once an application is stable, documented, and on a supported version, it is in a position to expose its data and business logic through APIs. That is the surface AI tools need. Support and maintenance are the first step; the ColdFusion services hub covers what comes after.
Supported ColdFusion Is AI-Ready ColdFusion
A ColdFusion application that is patched, documented, and on a supported version is not a liability to be replaced. It is a system that holds years of business logic and data that AI tools cannot reach anywhere else. The maintenance work on this page is what makes that data reachable: a stable application can expose its logic through APIs, and those APIs are the surface AI needs.
We wrote about where the platform stands in ColdFusion in 2026 and about what it takes to recover the intent buried in an old codebase in AI archaeology on a ColdFusion estate. The short version: support keeps the application alive, and a supported application is the starting point for every AI integration we build. The full picture, including migration, security, and API development, is on the ColdFusion services hub. Not sure where your application stands? Take the free AI readiness assessment.
